Definition:
The iPhone 4 is a 4th generation touchscreen smartphone made by Apple Inc. that debuted in mid 2010 and followed the highly popular iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 4 runs iOS, Apple's mobile operating system, which also power previous generations of iPhones and the iPad. The device is primarily controlled by finger tip control on its multi-tocuh capable screen, meaning that more than one finger can be used on the screen at a time to perform gestures. Two fingers placed on the screen and pulled apart, for example, will zoom in.
The big controversy around the iPhone 4 was caused by the newly designed aluminum antenna which is integrated into the frame around the edge of the device. There were complaints that holding the iPhone a certain way would interrupt the signal causing poor call quality or dropped calls. Apple responded by giving customers phone cases or rubber wrappers. The device contains an A4 processor the first processor made by Apple thanks to the acquisition of chipmaker PA Semi. The device also features a 3.5 inch LED backlit displayed branded the "Retina Display", which has a resolution of 960x640 pixels. The iPhone 4 includes access to the Apple AppStore which allows over the air downloads of mobile apps. The iPhone 4's data capabilities include is both 3G and Wi-Fi. It also includes support for Bluetooth.
