Hulu Plus Follows Netflix To Android...with Similar Restrictions

If you're a Hulu Plus subscriber with an Android phone you may have cause to celebrate. Hulu Plus is now available on the Android Market. But only if you have a Nexus One, Nexus S, Motorola Droid II, Droid X or HTC Inspire 4G. Yes, only a half-dozen phones and no tablet support. It's similar to the slow rollout Netflix followed with their Android release. One more thing: you should probably know it already, but Hulu Plus is only available for those living in the US.

Hulu has said that they will be adding support for additional devices throughout the year, but whether that means that new phones will be supported or support will be added for existing devices is unknown. And with the Google TV launch anticipated this summer, perhaps this relationship will extend to Google TV devices. Or perhaps Google will change the way their browser identifies itself to circumvent Hulu restricting access. Either way, it would be really nice to have access to more content from the upcoming devices.
Unfortunately, it looks like the free ad-supported version of Hulu is nowhere to be found, so unless you're paying the $8/month for Hulu Plus, you're out of luck.
If you're feeling lucky, head on over to the Android Market to see if your device is compatible.
