Twitter pushes out Android update with multiple accounts

Twitter for Android Push NotificationsTwitter for Android - Multiple User Accounts

Twitter has always had a vast array of unofficial apps in the Android Market to satisfy every need from casual Tweeting to professional multi-account users.  The official app has always been simple and functional, but never ideal for advanced users.  Part of that has changed with Twitter's new release.  The official app, announced on Twitter's blog, now has push notifications (an integral feature for any social networking app) and support for multiple accounts.

Now, you can control your business account and your personal account from the official Twitter app.  Considering Twitter's recent purchase of Tweet Deck and the potential of that professional service disappearing, it's good to see Twitter include some of the functionality in the Twitter app.

Push notifications allow you to receive an instant notification any time you receive a direct message or tweet.  All this is customizable in the options, but unless you're extremely well-known, the default options are probably best left untouched.

Twitter has seen tremendous growth over the last few years, regularly hitting record numbers during every major global event.  It's good to see that Twitter for Android is maturing along with the platform.

You can check out the new Twitter for Android app in the Android Market.
