DC Comics sends Justice League to Android
DC Comics, creators of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and more, have partnered with comiXology to release their first Android app. You'll now be able to find your favourite DC comics on your Android devices. Yes, that does include tablets.
ComiXology has built their platform across the web, iOS and now Android in order to allow you to buy once and read everywhere. Now that DC Comics have brought their 3,000 comics-strong library to Android, any comics you may have purchased online or using your iOS device will be available for you to read on the Android app. This also means that pricing is the same with comics selling for between $0.99 and $2.99 per issue. And, like all comiXology apps, you can choose to use the default Android Market billing method or the more universally used PayPal.
Something that should be a given, but still isn't, is compatibility with Honeycomb tablets. I'm happy to say that this app works wonderfully on any size of Android device. More developers need to start releasing tablet-compatible apps. While the Android tablet market is relatively small, it's also relatively small. That gives a developer the opportunity to be the first app in their field. Being early may mean fewer sales for developed brands, but small developers should smell the opportunity and pounce on it. If tablets are to take off, Android will be at the centre of the boom. It's good to see DC Comics make the effort to make their app compatible.
So, if you weren't satisfied with the recent Green Lantern movie or haven't completely recovered from the last Superman effort, maybe it's time to go back to the source.
