Apple to Unveil the Future of iOS and Mac OS at WWDC in June
Apple today released a press release outlining this year’s World Wide Developers Conference set to take place in San Francisco, CA at the Moscone West Center from June 6, 2011 to June 10, 2011.
According to the press release, Apple will take time during the conference to “unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS”. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has, in the past, used WWDC to unveil the new iterations of the iPhone. However, the typically accurate blog The Loop reports their sources claim no hardware will be unveiled during this year’s event. This is likely due to the fact the device’s typical release schedule has been thrown off by the Verizon iPhone 4, which was introduced in January and launched a month later, and a white iPhone 4 expected sometime in April. This has lead analysts to predict an early 2012 release for the iPhone 5.
While many expected a preview of the next major release and successor of the recently released iOS 4.3, iOS 5, in April at a MobileMe preview event, it looks like it will instead be previewed during this year’s WWDC. Most are also expecting Apple to seed iOS 5 to developers during the event, which is what they have typically done with the majority of past releases.

Other highlights you can expect at WWDC 2011 include 100 technical sessions, code-level assistance from over 1000 Apple engineers, and the annual Apple Design Awards.
