Additional Details:

A question for Andrew Moore-Crispin about the Canson Digital Flipchart. Can you explain how to use the flipchart with PowerPoint slides? Are the slides printed on the printer paper that comes with the set or on the note pad paper? Can the slides be printed on a printer not connected to the computer with the install? We want to show the slides on the computer screen and then add drawings as we talk about the slide.

Apologies for the fact that it's taken me a few days to get back to you on this. Had to dig through my notes as that product was on the Gadget TV set over a year ago and my memory was not serving me too well.

To mark up PowerPoint presentations, you have to bring them in to the Canson software in order to mark them up. You also have to print the PowerPoint slides onto the Canson paper in order for the IR pen to be able to track.

The truth of the matter: it's not the most elegant solution, but it does work. It's basically an inexpensive whiteboard of sorts.

If I may: for all the setup hassles, you might be better off going with Johnny Lee's interactive whiteboard using a Wii remote and a tiny bit of hacking. Check out the video embedded below. If you're interested, the software and more detailed instructions are available on his Web site: Johnny Lee: Using the Wii remote as an interactive whiteboard

I just discovered this site: IR Pens Online that makes and sells accessories to simplify and standardize the interactive whiteboard with a Wii remote experience. It's worth a look if you don't want to fabricate your own IR pens.
