hi.my friends vista laptop is stuck on the error message - BOOTMGR is compressed Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.i cant start in safemode.THING is there is a password i cant get past!?? help :)

Best to contact the hardware manufacturer and/or Microsoft.

i did try microsoft by phone they say they cannot help me get into safe mode while there is a password & to speak to a tech will cost $$$. so much for them! their own staff not knowing something which should be basic to them as bypassing a password!
also tried online but no replies.
as for the manf .. people shouldnt assume everyone has the money to buy a pc new..
also the initial error message is well known to microsoft & tech forums so its not a hardware issue ..

Visit Microsoft's Help and Support Centers, select your Operating Sysytem and let them know about the error you're receiving. They may refer you to the laptop's manufacturer if it proves to be an issue with the hardware.
