We're tired of building a series of work-arounds to watch web video from the couch and on the big screen. Boxee makes it simple to get online content onto your HDTV in full 1080p (or old school standard def CRT if that's the way you roll). Simply put, it's the easiest way to watch web video without the laptop, netbook or desktop computer.

Boxee Box by D-Link
$229.99

Front:
A slick look overall, it may still be a little too "geek chic" for the non-nerd in your life to allow it in the living room in plain view. On the front of the box, all we have is an SD card reader for getting pictures and the like on the big screen.

Back:
The back of the Boxee keeps it simple; a LAN port for connecting to your home network, HDMI out, optical out for high-def audio to match the high-def picture, L and R audio out, a spot to plug in the power and two USB ports that let the Boxee act as a NAS or just allows for extra storage of your offline media.

Remote:
A simple four button remote: one list button, one play/pause button, one enter button and a D-pad for moving around on-screen. Flip the remote over though and you've got a full QWERTY thumb keyboard. Great to see and something sorely missing in some other solutions.

Streaming:
Connect to Netflix to watch streaming video from the Netflix library (subscription required). Different subscriptions let you watch shows and movies from networks for free or for a fee. We like the fact that you can select which services are important to you and only pay for those. That said, the selection is still in its infancy here. MLB is forging a path offering a subscription service to watch major league baseball games without having to subscribe to a bloated cable package for the privilege.
You can also rent movies and watch them streaming on your HDTV via the Boxee box.
You can also grab video over the network from any connected storage device be it a computer, a NAS or a shared hard drive.
Coming soon: Hulu Plus.

Mobile app:
Grab the iPhone and Android app to use your smartphone as a remote for your Boxee box.
