While you make an interesting point. Please consider that one option to address that concern would be to install a supplemental hard drive cooler. Also consider that most new computer cases come with a cooling fan (sometimes two) located in the front of the case to provide cooling for the hard drive(s).

I noted your comment that you only used screws on one side of the hard drive when installing it into the case.
I would point out that you are reducing the effective heat transfer from the hard drive case to the frame of the drive cage, and so have a chance for a hotter running drive than you would otherwise have if you attach all of the four screws.
