- Core 2 Duo is the replacement processors for the Pentium D.
- Check out Episode 25: Multi-Core Processors Demystified for more information on multi-core processors.
- Pentium D was the last of the Pentium 4 based processors.
- AMD is Advanced Micro Devices, Intel's chief CPU compeitior.
- A dual-core CPU is like having two seperate processors, ie. produces extra performance.
- The Centrino chip-line was based off the older Pentium 3 line.
- Bottom line: Less GHz doesn't alaways mean slower performance anymore!
- The first Core professors were the Core Duo [two cores] and the Core Solo [one core].
- The newer Core 2 Duo features two cores. There is also now a Four-Core [Quad-Core CPU] CPU in the Core 2 Duo Extreme line.
