While Windows 7 is looking newer and shinier than its computing cohorts, it's still in dire need of a little personalization. Redmond's latest actually has its nose open and doesn't require any third-party software, any hoop jumpery or skullduggery to enact your pimpery.

Creating a custom theme in Windows 7

is so easy, it wouldn't be worth doing if the end product didn't look so sweet.

Show Notes

- Right click on the desktop and select customize to bring up the themes menu.

- Select from available themes or build your own.

To create your own Windows 7 theme

- Right click on the desktop and select customize to bring up the themes menu.

- Select Desktop Background and choose a wallpaper image.

- Select Window Color and choose a default color scheme for your theme.

- Select Sounds to load up your own theme sounds.

- Select Screen Saver to choose a custom screen-saver to go along with your theme.

- Your theme will appear in the top-left of themes page as Unsaved Theme.

- Right-click your theme, select Save As and give it a name.

If you can't be bothered to create your own theme

- Hit up Microsoft's Windows 7 themes page and have a look around or do a search for "Windows 7 themes." Just beware giving your computer a Software Transmitted Disease (STD).
