- NTSC: is short for North America Television Standard.

And I was told NTSC stood for Never Twice Same Color....PAL has a better pix in my opinion. PAL has no tint control on the TV Set and is controlled by the broadcaster. NTSC color changes due to minor oscillator drift and other things.
