Show Notes

- FTP = File Transfer Protocol. The FTP protocol dates back to 1971: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc114. The process of downloading from the server does not remove it from the server. It just makes a copy on the reciver's computer, too. For few FTP applications that can be used are: CoreFTP, href="http://filezilla-project.org/" title="FileZilla" target="_blank">FileZilla, WS_FTP, Cyberduck, Fetch, Fugu, and Transmit. FTP is traditionally open therefore it's not secure and individuals could in theory watch your traffic. To secure your transfers use SFTP.

- See a list of anon FTP sites at: http://www.ftp-sites.org/.
