There are some programs that you want to have start each time Windows starts. They may be utilities that you use all the time and you want to have them already loaded up and ready to go. At the same time, however, some programs will sneak their way into your Startup folder. These applications can rob you of precious memory and slow things down. These

MSCONFIG
Included with Windows
- Click on Start then on Run and type in msconfig and press Enter.
- You can click on the Startup tab and uncheck things you don't want starting.
- It's free and you don't even have to download it.
Autoruns
Free
- Interface is a bit cluttered.
- On the Everything tab is shows all the programs that "autorun" at startup.
- You can uncheck things that you don't want to start with Windows or check things you do.
Startup Control Panel
- Becomes a part of your Windows Control Panel.
- Click Start then Control Panel and then look for Startup and double-click on it.
- Here you can manage programs that start just for you or everyone.
- It's easy to access because it's part of Control Panel.
- Makes it easy to manage what starts and what doesn't.
CCleaner
- Powerful program that has a Startup manager function.
- Click on Tools and then on Startup.
- Here you can highlight a program that's starting and click Disable.
- You can also click one that isn't starting and click Enable.
- If you wish you can also Delete entries in the Startup manager.
