The move to USB 1.1 largely fixed problems related to using USB with USB hubs.

USB 2.0 was launched in 2000.

Technically, the top speed of USB 1.1 was 12 megabits per second.

In general, it's faster to transmit large files than a whole pile of small files that add up to the same size.

I'm showing the old mini-USB connector here; the new USB 3.0 is based on the micro-USB connector, however.
