- To find a topic to blog about, consider using services like A.Word.A.Day for inspiration.
- Blog posts are ideally between 300 and 600 words, but there are many examples of successful blogs that go well under or well over that word count sweet spot.
- Ideally, focus your blog posts around one very specific theme or ideal, like lifehacker's how-to and DIY hacking content.
- Blog readers and search engines love lists. Top fives, top 10s etc.
- Optimize your posts for easy scanning: Create sub-heads and bold the first few words of bullet points so visitors can easily scan to see if they're interested in ploughing in to read the post in full.
- Create series posts to keep visitors coming back.
