SLR's Selling Points:
1) Fast reaction time
2) Easy access to manual settings
3) Interchangeable Lens
4) Manual Focus
- SLR Camera's are normally purchased in parts. [i.e. camera body, lens, etc]
- Nikon D2XS
- CMOS used to be considered low-quality, but new CMOS sensors outperform CCD sensors.
- The first camera with the LiveMOS sensor was the Olympus E-330.
- Compact Digital Cameras go up to 10 mega pixels.
- Digital SLR Cameras go up to about 12 mega pixels in the consumer level.
- Canon EOS-1DS is 16.7 mega pixels at a price around $8,000.00
- For sharing, email, or the web, a 2-3 mega pixel camera is good enough.
- In general, the better quality lens you purchase the better the quality of the photos.
- Digital SLR's can use lenses from many old film-based SLR's, but automatic features probably won't work.
- Remember, though: your lenses must be compatible with the body. Canon lenses won't work with a Nikon body.
- M: manual mode.
- S: shutter priority mode.
- A: aperture [AKA = f-stop] priority mode.
- P: close to automatic mode.
- Majority of digital SLR's use Compact Flash [CF] cards, now some newer digital SLR's use Secure Digital [SD] cards.
