Show Notes
- There's often a section in your motherboard's BIOS that tells you the temperature in your computer.
- Some simple issues with your video card, random re-booting, etc; maybe caused by overheating issues. Which cables in the computer case play a major role by holding the heat in.
- See episode 12 to find out how balmy the beach can be in mid-Winter.
- Overheating leads to pre-mature failure.
- Almost everything expands when heat is applied. Metal doesn't expand MUCH at low temperatures, but it still expands.
- IRQ:
Interrupt ReQuest
Older systems often have IRQ conflicts between pieces of hardware.
- The video card generates a lot of heat. Try to avoid putting another card right next to it.
- To improve air flow, remove all cards and cables not being used. (ie. modem)
- cranny [noun]:
a small break or slit
an obscure nook or cornor
- Note: Using a standard house fan is not a good cooling method for your computer.
