Android tablets haven't enjoyed the same success as Apple's iconic iPad. They've all felt a little too slapdash and lacking in cohesive strategy when compared. The LG Optimus Pad AKA LG Optimus G-Slate is LG's first real attempt at a tablet and while it feels a little like toe-dipping to test the waters, it's a solidly built tablet running Android 3.0, Honeycomb, and offers some interesting features like 3D recording and (sort of) playback. If you can get over the sticker shock, it's a compelling tablet free of too many manufacturer tweaks to the Android OS.

LG Optimus Pad AKA LG Optimus G-Slate
$699.99
Front:
The 8.9-inch capacitive touchscreen at 1280x768 resolution is, understandably, the star of the show here. The front of the Pad / G-Slate has a front-facing 2MP camera for video chat and is free of any buttons as Honeycomb builds these buttons into the OS.
Back:
A very nice build quality, reminiscent of the Nexus One by HTC. The engraved metal band adds to the aesthetic and is flanked on either side by 5MP cameras. These stereo cameras are what give the LG Optimus Pad / LG G-Slate the ability to record 3D video. The LG Optimus Tab can record 2D 30fps video in up to full HD, 1920x1080 or 3D at 720p 30fps (1280x720). There's an LED flash beside the right-most camera for shooting stills. There's also a removable cover where you'll find the SIM card slot and a reset button.
Top:
Here we find a charger port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, one speaker and the power / lock button.
Bottom:
Two speaker grilles and that's it. These make up the right stereo audio channel when watching a video in landscape mode.
Left:
Copper connectors for docks and other accessories yet to be announced. Also, here we find the Micro B USB port for syncing and an HDMI-out.
Right:
A volume rocker and a small hole whose purpose isn't outlined in the included instruction manual. We're assuming it's a MIC.
LG Optimus Pad / G-Slate LV-V905R Specs:
Dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz processor
32GB built-in memory
Dual 5MP cameras for 3D video capture and stills
Front-facing 2MP camera for video chat
Android 3.0, Honeycomb
GPS, A-GPS
