CMDA - Code Division Multiple Access.
GSM - Global System for Mobile.
- GSM cellular phones use a sim card to maintain the users data.
- GSM uses 900 and 1800 MHz in most of the world, 850 and 1900 MHz in North America.
- GSM 400 and 450 MHz are also still in use in some Scandinavian countries.
- Quad-band phones feature all four prevalent GSM frequencies: 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHZ.
- GSM in the US is largely Cingular and T-Mobile, CDMA in the US is largly Sprint and Verizon.
- CDMA and GSM both use radio to transmit and receive voice information.
- Throughout the world there is not standard power adapter.

- Be sure to have a power-adapter/convertor when visiting another country that does use the 110 North American standard.
- While roaming in another country be sure to check your cellular providor's per minute roaming charges.
