OnStar integration with Mapquest

In-car navigation has evolved. From maps folded accordion-style and stuffed into the glove box to maps downloaded from various mapping services, printed and... stuffed into the glove box to turn-by-turn navigation via GPS. Now, with

OnStar

's integration with Mapquest, GM owners with an OnStar equipped vehicle can combine the latter two into one. Mapquest integration with OnStar means users can sign in to Mapquest, map a point of interest and send it straight to their car. The

OnStar Virtual Advisor

then guides users through with voice prompts and uploads the info to the in-car GPS system. Slick.

Show Notes

Robert Myers
Operations Manager, OnStar

- Download up to five destinations to your OnStar account.

- Routes are not pre-planned; only points of interest are uploaded to the OnStar system. Routes are generated on the fly.

Unfortunately we were unable to shoot much in the command center when we were there. They were setting up to shoot some kind of commercial and we had to get in and out v. quickly. It's a cool place to see though!

GM has done a really good job with Onstar. It is good to see that they are adding more features all the time. Maybe sometime you could shoot a video of the Onstar command centre. I had a relative who worked at one near Oshawa.
