If you're a gear head, a lead foot, an amateur mechanic, a data freak or just someone looking for info on

how to reset an engine warning light

without taking the car to the mechanic, the PLX Kiwi WiFi deserves a look. This $150 device lets you plug into the OBD-II port on your car (assuming it is a 1996 or later model year car). It is a WiFi AP device; connect your iPhone to the PLX's WiFi network, fire up a compatible app and next thing you know, you'll see all of the data that's available. Data like torque, fuel pressure, timing and the more mundane options like RPMs, speed and fuel level.

Show Notes

PLX Kiwi WiFi
$149.99

- Connects to your vehicle's OBD-II port to receive data and power.

- Depending on your vehicle, some diagnostic options may or may not be available.

Supported appsRev - $39.99 and Rev Lite - Free
  • DashCommand - $49.99

  • FUZZYCar - Free

  • - If supported in the app you choose, PLX Kiwi WiFi can read trouble codes and

    reset the "check engine" light

    .

    - Supported data output varies by vehicle. Older model cars will support fewer data items and may be confined to speed, RPMs and other stuff that's already covered in your instrument cluster.

    - Recommended for hardcore gear heads and backyard mechanics primarily. However, if you read just one engine diagnostic and clear a check engine light without needing a trip to the shop, it might be a worthwhile purchase for any vehicle owner.
