Show Notes

Palm Pre
www.palmpre.com
MSRP: US$550, CAN$650
Sprint: US$299 on a two-year contract (+$100 mail in rebate... but we hate those)
Bell: CAN$199 on a three-year contract

- Build quality is great.

- Full QWERTY keyboard is comfortable to type on. However, we found the top row of keys can be a little difficult to hit thanks to the fact that the screen portion of the slider blocks the top of your thumbs.

- 3.1 inch screen running webOS as the phone's operating system.

- Touch and gesture based interface.

- Browser engine quickly renders full HTML pages.

- Allows for background applications: you can run apps as "cards" to keep them going in the background while you use other apps or phone functions.

- Has an applications store on the device called "App Catalog."

- App Catalog is in beta and needs fleshing out but shows promise.

- Setting up email is easy. If you add a Gmail account, the Pre will also offer to associate your Google Calendar, which is a nice touch.

- Combined messaging allows you to take a conversation from one venue to another: from email to IM to text to call.

Includes:
- Microfiber case
- USB charge / sync cable
- USB wall charger
- Stereo headphones
- Manuals
