Still cameras that shoot movies, movie cameras that shoot stills. Invariably, when opting for a multi-purpose product, there have been some sacrifices to be made. Not so any more, according to Panasonic: its Lumix GH1 cams do it all.

Ok. I bought Lumix GH1 few weeks back. It is an excellent bridge digicam and I would recommend to everybody. Only thing is that if you are really a perfectionist, than using it in 1080 HD video mode to shoot some action, will not necessarily make you happy. It is either that two processors that Lumix GH1 has, are too slow, or that memory buffer is too small or too slow, but in this mode recorded movies tend to be quite jerky, if you pan or your subjects do something quickly. Anyway, I find dedicated digital camcorders much better at HD video, than digital cameras. Panasonic's Four Thirds sensor, though, does a good job and the still image quality that Lumix GH1 produces is excellent. If you want, check some photographs I've already done with GH1. to aaronbooker: GPS in camera ... why not FM radio and mp3 player and DSL internet connection. Just to keep them in one place ;-)

Glad you found us and that you're enjoying this, Aaron! We're using Sony's EX1 cameras for this, and Sennheiser Evolution Wireless G2 mics for shooting most of our field pieces: http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcamexsite/cat-broadcastcameras/product-PMWEX1/ http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/home_en.nsf/root/professional_wireless-microphone-systems_broadcast-eng-film_ew-100-series_021418

I ran accross your show thanks to Engadget. I really like what you're doing - I do something similar for Microsoft VARs at http://www.varvid.com (not nearly as interesting) I continue to wait for my holy grail - interchangeable lenses, HD video, SLR, and GPS enabled! However, this camera looks incredibly tasty... The quality of your video/audio is fantastic - do you mind sharing what camera/light/mics you're using? Thanks much, Aaron Booker
