PureBeats, not to be confused with Beats by Dr. Dre, are relatively inexpensive in-ear phones that offer excellent sound quality at a relative bargain price. At about $50, these PureBeats feature the flat cable that is currently en vogue. They're capable phones and the addition of the in-line mic with single remote button is welcome. As is the subtraction of $100 from the Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Tour In-Ear Headphones. While not as fashion-forward as Monster's phones, they're stylish and more importantly, do their job well.

PureBeats by PureGear
$49.99
PureBeats by PureGear are universal in-ear phones that'll work with any 3.5mm source like a dedicated MP3 player. More to the point, the in-line mic with single button make them the perfect complement for any smartphone too. To that end, audio quality on a call is good, though the in-line mic does feel a little like an afterthought and doesn't offer any kind of noise killing technology. That said, the mic is well placed, up near your mouth.
The sound quality with the PureBeats is excellent. They're well tuned and offer every nuance of your music without getting stuck in either the high or the low end of the sound spectrum; all too often, stylish buds like these highlight the low end and are too bassy.
Aside from looking cool, the major benefit of the flat ribbon style cable is that it's almost impossible to tangle the cable.
All in all, if you're looking for a pair of stylish earphones that are as practical as they are (relatively) inexpensive at $50, PureBeats are a great bet.
