Streaming music
from room to room has traditionally been an exercise in geekery. Configuring music servers, creating a network or a portion of the network specifically for streaming audio, buying and setting up a mish mash of components to get everything to work together... hopefully. Sonos has an answer with its S5 Wireless Music System. This simple (and loud!) sound system connects to your home network, can be controlled using the free Sonos Controller (iTunes link) app and is super easy to set up.Download this episode now

Show Notes
Sonos ZonePlayer S5 Wireless Music System
~$400 - ~$480
- Works in conjunction with the Sonos Controller (iTunes link) app.
- Pairing is as simple as pressing two buttons and then searching from your iPhone or iPod Touch.
- Also works with Sonos' own wireless controllers... though those are so expensive, you might as well purchase two iPod Touch devices instead.
- Plays any DRM-free song in your iTunes library.
- Connects to Internet radio to stream any of the 25,000 included stations.
- Works with Napster's all you can eat music subscription service and includes a 30-day trial.
- Offers deep, rich sound that rivals stand-alone stereo components and speakers.
- Runs on the SonosNet mesh network, not on your home wireless connection (for good or ill).
- "Party Mode" lets you stream the same song to multiple devices.
- with multiple S5s running, each room can either play the same song as is being played elsewhere or can select any song or music service instead.
- Requires the Sonos ZoneBridge to make streaming wireless.
