YoGen is a

portable device charger

that you hand crank using a pull string. It promises a charge rate about on par with a plug-in wall charger. You probably won't be using this as your primary device charger; it's for emergency use or extenuating circumstances where no power outlet is available, like when you're camping... or fishing or stranded on a desert island, if the super cheesy commercials (embedded after the break) are to be believed.

- Available with either Apple iPod / iPhone up to 3G (3GS not supported) and mini USB tips or LG, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and micro USB tips.

- Included cable connects via mini USB and tips plug into this cable.

- With a mini male USB to full female USB, you could theoretically charge just about anything with a USB connection.

- Switch on the side of the device changes from low (down) to high (up) charging modes. YoGen recommends trying each setting with your device to find its preferred rate of charging.
