Show Notes
Three rules for effective social media use.
1- Observe:
- Listen as much as you speak.
- Watch the way successful social media mavens interact and replicate their strategies.
2- Maintain the conversation:
- Consider social media an invite-only cocktail party and carry yourself with some decorum.
- Build relationships as opposed to numbers.
- Keep it conversational and everyone benefits.
3- Watch out for scams:
- There are no shortcuts: getting followers takes time.
- Focus on quality as opposed to quantity when it comes to followers and friends.
- Watch out for people and services that promise tons of followers in a short period of time.
Social etiquette quick tips:
Don't use direct message bots
- Don't fall into the trap of using these irritating auto-responders on your new followers. They suck!
Don't spam your followers
- Keep all your updates and messages relevant and valuable.
'Tis better to give than receive
- Don't just ask for stuff, offer stuff and only then ask.
