- We started off with Puppy Linux, which is great for installation on older machines.

- Puppy Linux is lean and has very small system requirements.

- Next we looked at Slax which is great for use on netbooks.

- We followed next with Mint which is solid and perfect for average users.

- Mint is faintly reminiscent of Windows.

- We looked at XBMC, which is a full-featured media center.

- You can run it from a USB drive, a CD, or you can install it on a computer.

- Lastly, we looked at Ubuntu. It's got everything you need for work and play.

- You can use WINE to run Windows programs that you just can't do without.

- There are many distributions of Linux and you can try most of them by creating a Live CD.

- You can also try out Linux distributions in virtual machines.
