Bluetooth keyboards for Apple's iconic iPad abound. Some get it right, some get it very wrong and some fall in the middle ground. We take a look at one of the latter, the tyPad Bluetooth keyboard for iPad. It hits on some points offering a nice looking leatherette case and a spill resistant keyboard. It misses on some others with a slightly cramped layout and some non-standard key positioning.

tyPad Bluetooth keyboard for iPad
$99.99
- Manufacture supplied specs: 55 hours of continual use, 90-days standby, 3.5hr charge time.
- Spill-resistant rubber membrane over the keyboard leaves only the power switch and USB charging port susceptible to spills.
- Pairing process is simple.
- Dedicate keys for volume and shuttle control of music, search, home and for bringing up the on-screen keyboard.
- Rubberized keyboard also offers a measure of protection for your iPad.
- Adds significantly to the bulk of the iPad... an issue with many Bluetooth keyboards for iPad.
- Strange and in some cases awkward key layout.
- If you're a hunt and peck typist, it works well. If you're a touch typist, the non-standard key layout will hold you up. The QWERTY keys themselves are easy to adjust to. However, punctuation will require that you look at the keyboard to find that which you seek.
- Written on the tyPad keyboard... not bad but the HTML was a big PITA.
