AA batteries are ubiquitous. They're used in just about everything and billions are made, and subsequently disposed of, each year. USBCell AA batteries charge via any powered USB port, eliminating the need for a dedicated charger and ensuring you always have battery power when you need it.

Show Notes

USBCell
2/ ~$19 (£11.14)

- 90 percent charge after 5h connected to USB.

- NiMh batteries.

- Eliminates the need to carry battery chargers when travelling.

- Requires some planning though, given the long charge time.

- 1.2v as opposed to the standard 1.5v for a AA cell.

- Can also be recharged via an approved NiMh charger.

- Flip off the cap to reveal a USB connector for charging.

Possible uses as highlighted by USBCell:

- Charge batteries directly via your gaming console to always have fresh cells for controllers.

- Charge for use in office peripherals like wireless keyboards and mice.

- Use in digital cameras accepting AA cells to avoid travelling with a dedicated charger. This use specifically is suspect as cameras are high-drain devices and the USBCell AAs offer 1.2v.
