Andy and Sean put on their rose-colored retrospective glasses for a look at Windows versions past. They take a look at the current versions of Windows -- Vista and XP -- and peer into the Lab Rats crystal ball to see what's in store for Windows 7, which has since been released in beta.

Microsoft Windows Operating System: A graphical user interface (GUI) environment that consumers utiltize to run applications, such as Adobe Photoshop.

There are many different types of operating systems, such as Apple OS X and Linux-based systems such as Ubuntu.

The current version of Apple's operating system is OS X 10.5, aka "Leopard". It's based on OpenBSD, which has similarities with Linux.

Linux is an open-source operating system, meaning all the program code is available to anyone for free.

The first operating system many remember is MS-DOS, which stands for Microsoft Disk Operating System.



Versions of Microsoft Windows to date:
(1) Windows 1.0.
(2) Windows 2.0.
(3) Windows 3.0.
(4) Windows 95.
(5) Windows 98.
(6) Windows ME.
(7) Windows 2000.
(8) Windows XP
(9) Windows Vista
(10) Windows 7 (upcoming)
