- Commercial Software: software that is manufactured to be sold in a marketplace. An example would be Camtasia Studios.
- Trailware: try the software out for a limited period of time.
- Freeware: software that you can use without having to pay anything. An example would be Produkey and Handbrake.
- Shareware: software that you can often use free, but you should pay if you find it useful. Also known as "Donationware". An example would be Irfanview and Spybot Search & Destroy.
- Gimpware: software that grants access to advanced software features for a limited time and then after the trail period, only access to a limited sub-set of the features until purchased. An example of Gimpware is Network Magic.
