In order to start using your iPad as your main machine, you're going to need to get some apps so that you can accomplish all the tasks you used to do on your old computer. Most of the time, you'll find that the apps you download to your iPad are fully functional and work much the same as their less portable counterparts.

Every year, Google invites developers to attend Google I/O to learn where the big G sees things going. Android has never been better represented than it was this year. We take a look at some of the most interesting Android announcements coming out of Google I/O. We'll cover some some of these developments in-depth in coming episodes, most specifically, Ice Cream Sandwich, the tablet and smartphone Android OS, coming later this year.
We check back in on the location data debacle that has privacy pundits crying foul. Senator Al Franken stepped into the fray, holding a hearing that saw Google and Apple both testifying on location data stored in smartphones and how it's used.
We also look at the Android version of the Netflix app finally bringing streaming Netflix movies and TV shows to Android... at least, a select few Android handsets.
Finally, Kate Abraham brings us her review of the Air Control Lite game.

Every second, 19 blog posts are created, 787 porn searches are enacted, 4.2 babies are born and four Android phones are activated. That's like one Android phone for every new baby, with an unfortunate two-tenths getting stuck with iOS... WE KID! (stats via So Many a Second).
Also, every second, an iOS developer is getting paid more than an Android developer. 11% more to be exact, making for a lot of no doubt miffed Android-only developers. It also likely makes multi-platform developers put more focus on their Apple apps.
Google's model for Android is very much ad-supported... which might explain why the method for opting-out of targeted ads (using your Device ID) is little publicized. We'll show you how in this episode.

Two cool apps that extend the functionality of your iPad. One adds the missing camera feature (sort of) and the other turns your iPad into a second monitor (sort of).
Both of these apps can be a little buggy, but it's pretty cutting edge stuff and definitely worth a look, if only as a proof of concept.

Koi Pond is a very zen application for the iPhone. The more impatient among us may ask "what does it do?" It doesn't do much... it shows some lovely koi (decorative goldfish / carp) in a serene pond. Swimming around and just generally doing what koi do. The real beauty of this app lies not in what it does but in what it makes you do: relax, zone out and just generally chill. Try finding that for $0.99 anywhere else.
