HP's first attempt at a Palm tablet running webOS, the HP TouchPad is an excellent first showing. If you had never seen the iPad, HP's TouchPad would blow you away. While it's very well implemented and well designed, it feels a little too "me too." That said, it does compare favorably against the iPad 2 and very favorably against Android tablets we've tried. The webOS environment works well and the tablet is pretty powerful... but we're still wondering who's going to be buying this one.

Hot-on-the-heels of the HP's recent acquisition of Palm comes the latest Tablet device to enter the race - the HP TouchPad. Like the iPad, it has a 9.7 inch capacitive touchscreen, gyroscope, accelerometer, wifi and Bluetooth capability. Unlike the iPad (or any Android tablets for that matter) it runs on WebOS a multitasking operating system developed by Palm.

In this episode, we'll introduce you to the

and walk you through some of the hardware features and design elements. As you might expect, this

tablet computer

is similar in design to the popular iPad by Apple, offering a

9.7-inch touchscreen

as well as a front-facing camera. It's also equipped with a

dual core Snapdragon CPU

and a discreet graphics unit.

While Palm may have slipped out of the mass consciousness somewhat since its heyday, its webOS is alive and well and now under the HP umbrella. Sean Carruthers heads to San Francisco to get a look at the latest WebOS devices coming from HP. The Veer, a small webOS smartphone with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, its big brother, the Pre3, with a slide-out QWERTY board and more screen real estate and the big daddy, the TouchPad tablet, a slick 9.7-inch webOS tablet.
