On the surface, Windows 7 looks a lot like Windows Vista. The Start Menu look and feel remains largely unchanged. However, when you dig a little deeper, it's clear that Windows 7 has a number of improvements to speed and usability. From the newly designed taskbar and menu systems that better suit the way people work.

- The Start Menu in Windows 7 looks and, for the most part, functions like the Start Menu in Windows Vista.

- The completely re-thought and redesigned taskbar, dubbed the Jumpbar, runs across the bottom of the desktop. We'll take a closer look at it in part six of this series.

- The Sidebar has disappeared. Gadgets can now be placed anywhere on the desktop.

- Windows 7 feels like Vista with a lot of the things that slowed Vista down removed. The user interface that feels more natural and gives one-click access to oft-used programs and tasks.
