As you fill out more details on your LinkedIn profile, the progress bar on your account page will start to fill up. Adding past and present jobs, uploading a picture, putting your resume online (either public or private) and so on all contribute to your progress meter and the completeness of your profile.

- On your Profile page, you can click the Edit link beside entries to chage or add detail.
- Clicking on Add Photo allows you to post a pic along with your profile. You can change permissions for who can view your photo and other profile info.
- Add present and past jobs by clicking on Add Position.
- Get Recommended is a good way to get past or present employers or colleagues to give you a strong reference.
- Use the Public URL option to create a personalized LinkedIn profile page that you can give to potential employers, place on your hard copy resume / cover letter etc.
