Pt. 2 of 5 | 2:45 |

Introducing Google+

Tuesday July 26, 2011
Google+ has a feature called circles, which is a way of

sorting your friends and contacts

. You can create a number of circles and have any of your contacts be part of any number of them. Then, you can share things with only particular circles, giving you an extra layer of privacy when

sharing information over Google+

Show Notes

- When you log in to your Google+ account you'll be brought to a page that tells you what sorts of things you can do on Google+. For instance, it explains what circles are.

- Circles are a little like groups from Facebook, but that's a bit of an oversimplification. Google+ circles are really about how other people relate to you, not about who knows who in what group.

- To start you'll have several circles set up already. You can also drag a contact to the Create circle icon to create a completely new circle. Give your new circle a name and it will be created.

- Your contacts can exist in a number of circles. For instance you can have someone in Family, Friends and Colleagues. You can have someone else in Acquaintances and Super Villains. It's up to you.

- Hover over a circle to see the people that you have added to it. Click on their image to go to their page, where you can easily add them to multiple circles.

- Back on your home screen you'll see a list of your circles on the left. From here you can easily view what's going on with people in your circles and share things with just that circle.
