BlackBerry's oft maligned Storm smartphone does away with the hardware QWERTY keyboard that made BlackBerry smartphones the business device of choice. Jay Goldman runs us through an introduction to the Storm, using the software keyboard and navigating menus.

BlackBerry Storm
- Rotating the BlackBerry selects between a portrait keyboard that has two letters on each key and a landscape keyboard, a full QWERTY software keyboard.
- The BlackBerry Storm keyboard has two levels of touch. Touching the screen selects and clicking the screen down inputs.
- Typing mistakes are automatically corrected.
- On the right-hand side of the BlackBerry Storm there's a headphone / handfree headset jack, a volume up and down rocker and a programmable convenience key.
- On the left-hand side of the BlackBerry Storm, there's a convenience key and a USB charging / syncing port.
- To customize the convenience keys, choose the Options, select Screen and Keyboard and scroll to find Convenience Keys.
- You can set just about any application or function to the convenience keys.
