- The BlackBerry 8800 uses the rollerball control scheme that first appeared on the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone. It allows for vertical and horizontal movement on-screen.
- The menu key brings up context menus in practically all BlackBerry applications and services.
- The convenience key can be programmed to open any installed application.
- The return key moves back one screen or exits an application, returning you to the homescreen.
- To move a program in your applications list, use the rollerball to highlight the item, select Move Item, use the rollerball to select the new location and press the rollerball in.
- To hide an icon in your applications list, use the rollerball to highlight the item, press the BlackBerry menu key and select Hide Icon.
- Turning off Show All in this menu will push all hidden icons from your applications screen.
