- SLR cameras are defined by their ability to swap lenses whenever you wish.

- It is important to know how each lens works before you use it.

- On the side of your lens, you should see several numbers including the focal length, the aperture setting and the zoom level.

- It's also important to know that lenses are generally specific to particular manufacturers.

- Focal length is a bit tricky to understand, but you can learn more about it by clicking here.

- Zoom lenses can change the focal length using the zoom ring.

- Changing the length of the lens will also affect how much light enters the lens.

- Many lenses will have an auto-focus switch so that auto-focus can be turned on and off.
