It can host your writing, music, photos and videos, it can be a place you list your professional achievements. In short, it can be anything you want it to be.

Domain name: The web address that points to your site i.e. butterscotch.com, tucows.com, yoursitename.com.

Domain registrar: The company that allows you to choose and register a domain name. Hover, GoDaddy, and DomainDiscover are examples of domain registrars.

- DNS: Domain Name Service or Domain Name Server or Domain Name System.

- Web hosting: A company that stores your web site so it's accessible on the Internet. Examples include Verio, PowWeb, GoDaddy, to name a few.
- HTML: Hypertext Markup Language: The code that tells a web browser how a page is supposed to be displayed.
