Customizing your power scheme in Windows helps to conserve energy and also adapts your PC to the way you work. We'll show you how to change what the power button does in Windows and also, how to tweak your power settings to get the most out of your laptop's battery.

- Go to the Control Panel and in the Search box type "buttons". Click on "Change what the power buttons do" when it appears.
- The options you're presented with may differ depending on whether you have a laptop or desktop computer. There are options to select whether your computer will Sleep, Hibernate, or Shut Down when you press the power button, press the sleep button or, if you have a laptop, close the lid. If you have a laptop you'll also be able to choose different settings whether you're on battery power or plugged into AC power.
- Below you can choose whether or not a password will be required when the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation.
- When you're done, click on Save changes.
