Friday April 29, 2011
If you own a

flat-panel iMac

, then unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do to

customize your computer

. One thing you can do, however, is

change or upgrade the RAM

, as we'll show you in this episode.

The

iMac computer

isn't as easy to

upgrade or customize

as the Macintosh tower computers. While much of the hardware is hard to get at for most people, upgrading the RAM is fairly easy to do.

First, gently place the iMac screen down onto a soft, flat surface, preferably one that is free of static. Notice on the underside of the screen, there is a door that can be unscrewed and removed. Remove this panel to gain access to the RAM. Each of these

sticks of RAM

can be removed by gently pulling the pull tab and sliding out the RAM. Now, you can install new RAM or replace the RAM sticks, the just replace the panel and tighten the screw to finish.
