In this tutorial, we'll show you how to
change the notification sound for incoming SMS messages
on your Android phone. It would seem logical to change the incoming message sound in Settings under the Sound category. You can change the Notification ringtone here, but this will affect all notifications, not just the notification sound for new SMS messages.Download this episode now

- To change the default text message sound, open the stock Messaging app on your phone.
- In your message inbox, tap the Menu key and choose Settings.
- Scroll down to the bottom to Select ringtone and tap to enter.
- If you have multiple sound source apps installed, tap one to choose it.
- Scroll through to select a notification sound and you can tap any entry to hear a preview. When you're satisfied with your choice, tap OK.
- Now, any time an SMS or MMS message arrives, you'll hear your new notification sound.
