Convert a video file format with Handbrake

Have a video file that won't play on your computer? Or do you want to convert a video file or DVD into a format that will play on your iPod, iPhone, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360 and so on? It's easy to do with Handbrake!

Grab the PC version of Handbrake from Tucows and follow along with this tutorial!



- Click on Source in the top-left of the application window and select Video File.

- Navigate to the video file you want to convert and select it.

- Under the Destination heading, click on Browse and navigate to the folder you want to save the finished file into.

- In the right-hand Presets menu, select the appropriate preset for your device. In our example, we're converting for an iPhone or iPod Touch.

- Click on the Start button in the top-left.

- A command window appears that shows the progress of the encoding.

- Minimize all Handbrake windows and the encoding will continue in the background and will alert you when it's finished.
