Doc leads us through how to create a basic encrypted volume using TrueCrypt on the Mac. An encrypted volume is password protected and holds files, folders, documents and so on that you don't want other people to be able to access.

- You can download TrueCrypt here.
- With TrueCrypt running, click on Create Volume.
- Select Create an encrypted file container and click Next.
- For a non-hidden volume, leave the default Standard TrueCrypt volume selected and click Next.
- On the Volume Location screen, click on Select File and navigate to the folder you'd like to create as an encrypted volume.
NOTE: You cannot encrypt an existing folder! Read the WARNING message on the Volume Location screen for details.
- Leave the default Encryption Options in place and click Next. The defaults will be fine for most users.
- Set a volume size in either KB, MB or GB and click next. We suggest 1GB to start.
- Create a strong password you're sure you'll remember. We do not recommend storing it in the keyfiles.
- Leave the default filesystem (FAT) selected and click next.
- Click on Format to begin preparing your new encrypted volume.
