show notes

- There are many online tools that will help you in the creation of your favicon:

- Online icon maker from RealWorld Graphics

- Upload images to make free favicons

- Create and share favicons with Favicon.cc

- You can use any image editing software to make one. They are to be saved as 16x16 pixel ICO files. The name of the file must be favicon.ico.

- Note, if the program you're using doesn't allow you to save files as ICO, save as a BMP and then simply rename the file.

- Next, upload the file to the main root directory of your web server.

- Most browsers will just pick it up when you or your visitors load your web page. After the page loads, if your browser does not automatically detect the file right away, you may need to press F5 to refresh the page or clean cache files stored in your browser.
