series by demonstrating how to make a melody using the piano roll. Here, you can alter the tone, pitch and duration of notes as well as affect how notes are played and even add in chords to create a melody to go along with the beat we've already laid down.

- Create a new synth in the pattern and choose something that makes a tone.

- Right-click on the channel and choose piano roll.

- Draw chords and notes to add to your beat.

- Click on the keyboard keys to find a root note or tap out a melody.

- In the piano roll, left-click to draw notes and right-click to delete notes.

- Click and drag to move notes or click on the end of a note to change the duration of the note.

- The graphs along the bottom of the piano roll window alter the velocity of the note it represents.
