Customize folder options in Windows

Windows comes with certain options as defaults. For example, double-click to open something, open new folders in the original folder, and the like. Just because that's the way it works by default doesn't mean you can't change it. Using the Folder Options you can customize how Windows behaves in this regard and perhaps find a way that suits you better.

Show Notes

- Click on Start, then on Control Panel.

- In Control Panel under Classic View just click Folder Options.

- In the default view click Appearance and Personalization and then click on Folder Options.

- Folder Options has three tabs the first of which is the General tab.

- Here you can change how folders and clicks behave.

- On the View tab you can change the way things are viewed in folders. Experiment and see if you find a way you like better.

- Have it show icons and never thumbnails.

- Have it show the full path in the title bar.

- Experiment and see what you like.

- On the Search tab you can change the defaults for searches.

- If you decide to switch back you can just click Restore Defaults.

- When you're done making changes just click Apply, then OK, and you're done.

- You can always go back in and change options you don't like or restore defaults.
